Pocket watch

Wow... this is quite different from any other character goods. This thing is real! I mean, it's a real working pocket watch that you can actually use!

First of all, a common fact. It's a bootleg. This is by no means a complain. I love it. To put it in a nicer way, it's a "Chinese version". There's an impossible-to-get, super expensive official Japanese special edition, which is made of silver, and comes with a State Alchemist certificate. This one comes with a metal pendent. (I'll do a separate review on that later.)

Sturdily built, the watch follows the anime design closely. As I haven't seen the real one, I can't say if it was copied from it, or built from scratch. The Flammel's cross is printed on the dial, and the inside of the lid has Ed's reminder "Don't forget 3, Oct, 11". (There's a typo, though! 11 turns into 11"!) However, it's casted, not carved!

Magnets don't stick to this watch! I totally expected them to! The watch is quite heavy so it's not cheap aluminium. But it's not stainless steel either. Hmm...

There are many other Chinese versions. The basic set up is a pocket watch, then the Flammel's cross pendent. The third item (if any) might be a Flammel's cross key chain like this set.

I believe this pendent + ring set came out first and was the most common in the earlier days. There seems to be only one size for the ring.
Then later this set with a State Alchemist certificate became more common. A piece of paper vs a metal ring. Which one do you prefer?

And... this seems to be the official North American version? The date is manga version. (10 instead of 11, and no typo.) After seeing this, the State emblem relief of the bootleg version seems to be too high and cheesy.

This lone watch is released by Animate. The only one that uses the manga version State emblem . (The dragon's tail loops around the lowest point of the start.) Although it looks like Ed's watch, it's not the same because there is no date inside the lid. Plus, the dial has a colourful anime illustration. Anime fans will be easily busted. The one and only silver pocket watch is a special limited edition. (Quantity = 2000 or something like that?) It's strange that there isn't a more common version in Japan. The pirates are taking good advantage of this opportunity.
