Primer

Finally! Spraying primer for the first batch. I'm not good at this at all. Some of them ended up very rough. And I didn't fill the groves on the back of Ed's head properly.

Anime Evolution 2007 (5)

Some after thoughts...

It was kind of sad to see so few FMA cosplayers comparing to last year. But again, Vic Mignogna was here, and I suspect his presence bought a lot of fans from out of town. There might still be some cosplay next year since the manga is still going. But once it ends, there will probably be none. Sob sob sob... I'd like to stay as a fan even after it's over. FMA is truly an amazing series.

Nevertheless, there were 4500(?) attendees this year. Last year it was in the 3-thousands. But... from what I saw, there seemed to be fewer people. Hmm...

Anime Evolution 2007 (4)

This was the last day. Since there weren't enough red-coat Ed around, I decided to wear my red fleece. And might as well a black T-shirt inside. This is the best I can do without a costume. (But even if I do have a costume, I don't have the guts to wear it.)

Missed the Gothic Lolita tea party I wanted to see. It was more like, I was late, but there should still be 15 minutes left. However, it wasn't there. The location was simply empty. Looked but couldn't find it. Oh well, guess it wasn't meant to be.

Ah! Finally caught the Winry cosplayer! Yay~!

The "yaoi" theme seem to be even more popular this year. The number of panels more than doubled from last year.

And then there were the "free yaoi hugs" guys in the cosplay hang out area! That was funny! Hey, if they're yaoi, aren't they only allowed to hug guys?

Some people took transit in their costumes. On the bus I overheard a girl (who dressed kind of like Misa from Death Note) talking to 2 female attendees from out of town. The girl say something like, they were saying, oh my god, our school is taken over by freaky people! The out of town ladies sure didn't seem too happy. And I thought, that girl was freaky herself too! (From the way she dressed, being too eager to talk, and trying so hard to act girly.) Oh well, it's over this year. I'm exhausted and still have a cold. Need lots of rest for sure.

Anime Evolution 2007 (3)

Since I don't have the guts to cosplay, I'd do it with accessories. Today I went to the con with a gift from my Japanese friend. She gave me an official FMA silver necklace during my trip last Christmas. There are plenty of bootlegs out there, but this is the real thing! (Later I found out it's around $150. Oh dear... I feel so guilty...)

Still exhausted from yesterday (plus the cold lingered), I arrived late at 3:30 PM, so missing the first 30 minutes of Shamballa. Seen it with the computer already, but I'd love to see it on a bigger screen. It was only a lecture room, not a real theater. But the sound quality was definitely a lot better than what I have at home.

The room was packed solid with people sitting on the floor on both sides! I managed to stand near the door, which was better, because the air was horrible! Hot and suffocating! If it wasn't for Shamballa I'd have left. There were constant interruptions. Throughout the show, more people were trying to come in, and a few left. There were about 140 seats, plus the extra people, so I'd say a total of approximately 160? They should have used a bigger room. I'm glad it's popular, though.

Then I met up with a friend and went to some panels. I'm so happy to have caught the Izumi cosplayer! That was probably the same Ed with her too. I was unable to take their picture last year. Don't remember seeing Rose, though. There was also a Winry cosplayer that I missed.

There was almost no FMA merchandise at the vendors. Kind of sad. But they might be sold out already. Never know.

Anime Evolution 2007 (2)

Hmm... overall there is a sharp decrease in the number of FMA cosplayer. Kind of sad. Ed's red coat should be so easy to spot, but couldn't really see any. Maybe 2 for the whole day? (But I was stuck behind a flea market table.) And at the end of the day, I photographed the same person twice. Haha!

Last year Vic Mignogna (Ed's voice actor) was here. That makes all the difference. Oh well.

Submitted almost all the drawing I did in the past 12 months from this blog to the drawing contest. Not really interested in the price. (Last year it was a pair of bear ears.) Oops, sorry I lied. There's a chance to be scouted by a publisher. Nevertheless, my main goal is to increase FMA exposure.
Oh! Ed and Envy spotted on the dance floor! There might be more army people but I was too tired to look. I'm even too tired to cough. Actually, I'm falling asleep as I type this. Better go. Doubt if I can get up early enough tomorrow.

Sorry, not really in the mood to celebrate because I've caught a cold... 2 days before Anime Evolution! Aaaaargh!!!! My throat hurts, my neck hurts, my head and sinus hurt, and I feel feverish. Sob sob sob... At this point, I think I'm still going to AE. I really need to sell stuff a the flea market. Hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Watched a documentary on global dimming the other day. It's so scary! We only have a decade left before we reach the point of no return! Sigh... how many people are aware of the danger we're in? I'm doing my best to cut energy and material consumption. But of course, one person isn't enough.

Withdrawal

OK, I confess. I've been looking up the chapter 74 torrent every hour or so for the past 2 days. It hasn't been this bad since around... chapter 53? And finally! Finally! It's here! Yay~!! Aaaaargh just a few more minutes! Can't wait!

In the process of withdrawal relief, (that's searching for FMA sites), I'm very sad to have found many closed sites. Although no where near the replenish level, there are new ones. There's no shortage of sexually explicit content either. (Oh dear, I think I have completely gotten used to those too.) Still haven't been able to find many English fan sites, though.

Ah, it's done. Now, I shall enjoy chapter 74. Hehehe! (^_^)

Air shipment

Went to Iwase today (the only real Japanese book store in town). They really have the FMA book 17 in the air shipment corner! It's exactly the same as the Japanese publish day! I'm impressed! This is the second time I catch it. OK, maybe I don't always happen to be there on the right date. But... so far, other then FMA, I don't know (and don't care about) the publish date of any other manga. As usual, I never buy air shipment. So, the painful wait will continue for another month.

The withdrawal syndrome is bugging me. Have been wondering on the net again.
